Faith Rutz, LPC Associate

Education

 Faith is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas and is supervised by Traci Koen, LPC-S, RPT-S. Faith earned her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy and Counseling with specializations in School Art Therapy, Medical Art Therapy, and Trauma Informed Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, Virginia; and her undergraduate degree in Studio Art with minors in Art History and Psychology from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

Experience

Faith has experience providing art therapy and counseling services to individuals across the lifespan. She gained a year and a half of experience interning at a rehabilitation unit at a hospital, an elementary school, an adolescent behavioral rehabilitation hospital, and at a non-profit organization for adults with intellectual and developmental delays. She has a special interest in working with children and teens with depression, anxiety, self-esteem struggles, issues related to transition, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Counseling Approach

Faith believes that everyone has the potential to grow and heal and art can be a source of comfort but also serve as a communication tool for her clients. She incorporates Person-Centered Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and psychoeducation into her sessions.

Personal

Faith is originally from Missouri but has spent the majority of her life in South Carolina, and she has recently moved to the Dallas, Texas area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two cats and two dogs, face-timing friends and family, making art, traveling, and exploring and trying new restaurants in her new home.
