Collin White, LPC Associate

Collin (he/him) is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Emilee Aschenbrenner, MS, LPC-S. He earned a M.S. in Counseling with a specialty in Clinical Mental Health and a concentration in trauma treatment from Southern Methodist University. Collin is a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), and is a member of the Texas Counseling Association.

Compassion is at the core of Collin's approach to counseling. He believes people are complex, unique, dynamic, and inherently worthy. He sees each person as contributing to the world what only they can, and feels that each contribution is meaningful. Collin believes people are capable of change. Collin feels privileged to join individuals in a collaborative counseling process wherein they work towards the goals, changes, and destinations they bring to therapy.

Collin's primary professional interest is working with adults to address various types of trauma, such as childhood, religious, and intergenerational traumas. He is passionate about helping people grow in their sense of self-worth, and helping them reclaim the autonomy, power, and control that may have been taken from them. As a non-religious, or secular, counselor who was raised in a high-demand religion, Collin has personal experience with the pervasive complexities of leaving a religion, and creates space for those seeking counseling amidst their faith deconstruction.

Collin often works with people who carry a persistent sense of shame; people who sometimes, suddenly, feel overwhelmed and don't know why; people who feel an ambiguous sense of loss; people who long to feel seen and understood; people who wonder who they really are; people who feel the need to grieve what never was; people who feel numb, alone, disconnected, angry, or confused by their emotions. Collin has a soft spot for those who feel they are misfits.

Prior to becoming a counselor, Collin earned a B.F.A. in Studio Art and has a deep love for creativity and expression. He lived in Washington state and Utah before moving to Texas. Outside of counseling, Collin enjoys spending time with his wife and their cat, experiencing and making art, playing video games, and rollerskating.
