Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. People who ask for help, know when they need it and have the courage to reach out are showing strength. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, we will identify goals for therapy and a path forward.

Friends and family members are emotionally connected to you and because of this it is sometimes more difficult to share struggles not knowing how it may impact them or the relationship. A counselor has the education, experience and training to meet you where you are and help you find a way to express and process your feelings and circumstances while giving you the tools to communicate with your loved ones or move forward in healing. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.”

Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling. Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on your strengths that can help you accomplish your personal goals.

We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs meeting you where you are. It is normal to feel a little nervous about a first session. This usually eases when you meet your therapist and begin getting to know each other. During the first session, your therapist will get to know more about you, what brings you to therapy and together you will create a plan for the next session and treatment goals.
-
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say for sure. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. Most people report some relief and progress only after a few sessions.

We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success. Attending appointments on a consistent basis and a willingness to talk and share openly and honestly, is a great start!

Therapy is charged per session. Depending on the therapist, licensure status, experience and specialties- our therapists range from $110/session to $200/session. Some therapists are in network for some major insurance providers. For therapists not in your insurance network we provide insurance friendly superbills and many clients report receiving some reimbursement from their insurance.
