Education
Erica is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas and supervised by Laura Pace, PhD., LPC-S. Erica earned her Master of Science Degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from St Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
Experience
Erica has experience providing counseling services to individuals across the lifespan and specializes in working with adolescents and adults. She has been working as a high school counselor at a Dallas private school for the last two years and has gained a deeper experience in guiding high school students through the college application process. She has a special place in her heart for adolescents as they navigate the rollercoaster years. Erica has a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, body image, relationship issues, career choices, adjustment difficulties, and self-injury.
Counseling Approach
Erica believes that all humans can benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, as well as the context of the world we exist in. She is passionate about providing a warm and non-judgmental space for clients to explore and share their inner thoughts and feelings, while working collaboratively to help individuals deepen their self-awareness and create goals that feel congruent with one’s self. These approaches include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, expressive arts, mindfulness, and coping skills to assist with overcoming the challenges and obstacles that occur in life.
Personal
Erica is a native Texan and grew up and attended schools in Plano, Texas. Erica is passionate about the realm of health and exercise and the impact it has emotionally and physically. She enjoys spending her time with friends and family, being active, traveling to new destinations, as well as indulging in a myriad of culinary experiences locally and globally.
